For my money, text handling is its achilles heel but Inkscape is constantly being improved. Menus, palettes, commands, tools, they all fall into the right place at the right time. An unfair comparison in my humble opinion, as it’s the workflow of the program that sets it apart. Indeed, it has been likened to CorelDraw. It takes the apogee of Adobe Illustrator’s development (that’s Illustrator 5.5 for those that don’t know) and plunges it breathlessly into the era of Free Softare and open standards.ĭesigned specifically to work with Scalable Vector Graphics (which is gaining increasing support amongst web browsers), the interface may not at first sight “be all that”. I adore the Inkscape drawing program with a passion that is trembling on the edge of legality.
